A group of senior government officers and executives in various business sectors from Guangdong Province, China paid courtesy call to Mayor of Miri City, Lawrence Lai Yew Son on 5/12/2009. The purpose of the visit to Miri City is to gather information on ICT development in the State with the view of seeking possible business venture in this field in the State.

Mayor of Miri City, Lawrence Lai Yew Son (right) welcomed the visit of His Excellency Dr. Marc Barety, French Ambassador to Malaysia (middle) to Miri on 8/12/2009. His Excellency was on a familiarization visit to Miri with the view of exploring potential fields of bilateral business partnership between France and Malaysia.
A total of 29 staff of Miri City Council have been awarded the Certificate of Excellent Service Performance for Year 2009. During the certificate presentation, Encik Antonio Kahti Galis, City Secretary of Miri City Council expressed appreciation for their contributions and reminded all staff to render their services with dedication and in line with the expectation of the Government as well as the general public.
