Well after the swearing-in of the appointments, Mayor Lawrence Lai Yew Son together with his team, had carried out a series of visits to the press and the local organisations at Miri. Besides strengthening their cordial ties, the Mayor took the opportunity to introduce the Chairmen of various Standing committees to them. The visits were well received and fruitful as the Council's delegation had managed to brief them information and latest development in the Council and in return, the Council had received valuable feedback on their expectation and suggestions towards the Council.
YB Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi Bin Abdul Ghani, the State Secretary of Sarawak is the Guest of Honour of this memorable occasion. YB congratulated the Council on their recent achievements. He said that, with the setting up of High Performance Team, Miri City Council will be able to attain greater achievement. He pointed out that Miri’s strength is the existence of Semangat Kesukarelaan. He suggests the Council to take full advantage on it and get the local Non Government Organisations (NGOs) and voluntary bodies involved in Council’s programmes as it will become a formidable strength to accomplish Council’s mission i.e. to manage Council’s resources efficiently and deliver quality services to the People.
