MIRI: The grand prizes of a Compaq notebook and Acer netbook are among 60 lucky draw prizes offered to visitors to the Sarawak ICT Expo 2010 held here.
Some people hold off purchases of new ICT products until a major expo comes to town to avail themselves of some of the latest offerings at promotional prices.
"Let's appeal to Bruneians and other visitors to Miri to come here to buy cheaper and better ICT products at the expo," said Miri City Council (MCC) chairman and Miri mayor Lawrence Lai during a press conference jointly held with the Computer Sales and Services Association Sarawak, Miri branch (CSSA) in his chamber yesterday.
Lai sees the expo as an opportunity to boost tourism in Miri, as well as a way to keep up to date with the latest ICT innovations to hit town.
"It's also a good time to upgrade your computer and accessories.
"Come and see the latest ICT products at the expo, and participate in the lucky draw," he urged.
The expo win be held in Miri Indoor Stadium from July 30 to Aug 1, and to make it more exciting, a lucky draw will be held on the final day.
Organising chairman Yong Chee Tak said the lucky draw, starting 7.30pm on the final day of the expo, is for visitors present only.
"Holders of the vouchers drawn who did not turn up to accept the prizes on the spot will forfeit them, and a new draw will be made for a new lucky winner.
"We will not keep any prizes for those hot present, and all prizes will be given away," he added.
Also present were CSSA chairman Jacky Jong and CSSA secretary Richard Soo.
An E-Waste Re-Cycling Campaign is to be held in the car park of Miri Indoor Stadium in support of MCC's initiative to save the environment.
